dc.description Web content management systems like Drupal, Wordpress and Joomla! are powerful tools that simplify staff interaction with complex web technologies and empower librarians to engage with patrons on a scale never before possible. In order to realize the potential of these systems to further the mission of libraries on the web, libraries need to devise strategies around what types of content they should be producing and the outcomes they are trying to achieve. Originally presented March 20, 2013, as part of the 2013 PLA Virtual Spring Symposium. Running time: 1 hour. Learning Outcomes: Understand what web content strategy is and its place in an overall web strategy; Understand how web content strategy can evolve traditional library service leveraging the distribution power of the web; and Learn methods for leading a cross-departmental team through content strategy development. Presenter: Christopher Evjy is a librarian, project manager and web developer with 12 years of public and academic library experience. He currently manages the Web Team at Jefferson County Public Library and has a MSLIS from the iSchool at Syracuse University. His areas of professional focus include content strategy, organizational leadership and Drupal. Chris is the recipient of the iSchool’s Librarianship for the Future award and was a member of the Colorado Association of Libraries Leadership Institute class of 2011. en_US
