Committee
Charge:
The
Booth Committee purpose is to provide an opportunity to promote ALA and NMRT
membership and a location for information exchange. In addition, the Committee
makes arrangements for the NMRT "Traveling Booth" to be exhibited at
state, regional and divisional conferences.
2003
- 2004 Project Description / Goals:
Arrange
a professional booth at ALA Orlando for the purpose of publicizing NMRT and its
activities, as well as the benefits of NMRT membership.
Maintain
a committee presence on the NMRT website, particularly for communicating the
work of the committee to all NMRT membersand for recruiting volunteers for ALA
Orlando.
Revise
and update Booth policies.
Specific
Objectives (numbers, tangible end-products):
ALA
Orlando:
Coordinate
shipment of Booth materials such as the NMRT banner and literature rack to ALA
Orlando.
Prepare
an attractive display of NMRT informational materials including, but not
limited to, the NMRT membership flier, schedule of NMRT conference activities,
and Resume Review service.
Distribute
informational packets to Booth visitors (target: 150 packets)
Provide
sufficient staffing so that no one comes to the Booth without being greeted by
friendly folks who can offer information about NMRT (target: 28 exhibit hours,
25 volunteers)
Through
use of a survey, identify persons interested in joining NMRT and/or becoming
active in NMRT committees(target: 100 completed surveys)
Develop
and implement a system of tracking the number of Booth visitors. Target: 250 visitors.
Tear
down the Booth and making sure that all items to be stored and shipped by
Quality Books are safely delivered back to them.
Website:
Update
the Booth web page and associated ALA Orlando Booth information pages (call for volunteers, instructions for
volunteers, volunteer schedule). Link
all updated pages from the NMRT website.
Booth
policies:
Revise
and update the official Booth charge to delete reference to the "Traveling
Booth" service.
Revise
and update the Booth description in the online NMRT Handbook.

We will submit a request to ECRC for assistance with the NMRT bags and

Note: Through the new Web liaison initiative, we
anticipate having a new Booth committee member appointed in October 2003 for
the purpose of helping with our web pages.

On-site conference volunteers: (include estimated numbers needed and

job description)
Volunteers
will be needed to staff the booth at ALA Orlando. The booth will be open to the
public 28 hours. In addition,
volunteers will be needed to assist with booth set up and tear down. Our goal is to schedule 25 volunteers. The job of booth volunteers is to provide information
to new and prospective ALA and NMRT members during one- or
two-hour
shifts.
c. Publicity planned for the committee (posting
to other discussion lists, official press release for webpage, etc.):
We
intend to publicize Booth activities and solicit volunteers for ALA Orlando
through Footnotes, NMRT-L, and NMRTBD.
