Report of the SAC Working Group on External Review of Library of Congress Vocabularies

Abstract

This document describes a survey of 31 controlled vocabularies and classifications used in libraries and archives which collected information about editorial processes and identified external review efforts. It also provides suggestions for improving the current editorial process for Library of Congress controlled vocabularies (such as the Library of Congress Subject Headings) and the Library of Congress Classification, the main suggestion being the creation of an external review board.
