Abstract
In the fifth example under AACR2 12.3G1, Change in numbering, the closing designation for a sequence of numbering is incomplete. The example omits the series numbering part of the designation, and looks rather AACR1 in form. While all examples should be correct, the example in question is the only place in 12.3 showing both the beginning and ending designations for a numbering sequence involving series numbering. Although it is not explicitly stated anywhere in 12.3, the implication in 12.3F, Ceased serials, is that the entire designation of the last issue should be given (“In describing a serial that has ceased publication, give the designation of the first issue or part followed by the designation of the last issue or part.”).
