Abstract
Amina Luqman-Dawson received the 2023 John Newbery Medal for "Freewater" (JIMMY Patterson Books/Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a division of Hachette Book Group). She delivered her acceptance remarks during the Newbery-Caldecott-Legacy Banquet held Sunday, June 25, 2023, during the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.
