CC:DA/PCC/2012/3 Revision of RDA 2.12.8 and 2.12.16, regarding recording ISSNs

Abstract

The Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) Standing Committee on Standards proposes the following revisions, which arose out of the work undertaken by the PCC Task Group on RDA and the BIBCO Standard Record (BSR) for Textual Monographs. When the task group reviewed the ISSN instructions in RDA (ISSN of Series, RDA 2.12.8 and ISSN of Subseries, RDA 2.12.16), they were concerned that these instructions provide only for recording ISSNs that appear on the resource itself and not from external sources. The proposed changes below address that situation.
