The presenters share some common library design missteps and also provide small steps you can take to fix them. This archived webinar was originally presented February 23, 2012, as "Creating Dynamic Library Atmospheres." Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of this on-demand webinar, participants will: Have learned a new way of looking at their libraries; Take away at least one idea they can implement immediately. Instructors: Sally Decker Smith began her library career in circulation, and originally planned to return to teaching when her younger daughter began school. Thirty library years and an MLS later, she is enjoying a fifth career as a public library consultant, with an emphasis on giving library staff members ways to do their jobs better, and more easily. She met Ted a long, long time ago when she was working her way through undergraduate school at the Museum of Science and Industry. Ted Swigon studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago and IIT (Illinois Institute of Technology) before spending 20 years in the at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry, the last five as director of exhibits. He currently is a consultant in the area of museum design, and has also applied his visual skills to libraries all over the country. en_US
