dc.description The topic of misinformation regarding Open Educational Resources (OER) was brought forth to ALA Council by a Councilor. A subgroup was formed with Councilors and representatives from Intellectual Freedom Committee and the Committee on Legislation. The group drafted a resolution that affirms the benefits of open educational resources and encourages library workers to promote OER and support OER by advocating at all levels of government. “Resolution in Support of Open Educational Resources” was approved by the IFC and COL. Both committees also incorporated and approved the revisions to Resolved 2 that were suggested at Council Forum into the proposed resolution. Additionally, a toolkit from the American Association of School Librarians on OER was added to a footnote listing available resources. The resolution is endorsed by the Information Technology Policy Advisory Committee and Intellectual Freedom Round Table. It is endorsed in principle by the Committee on Professional Ethics. The resolved clauses were adopted June 29, 2021, by ALA Council. en_US
