Item Open Access CC:DA/AALL/2003/1 Revision and simplification of 12.1E1 [CC:DA/Schiff/2002/3](2003-02-06) Winzer, Kathy; American Association of Law LibrariesItem Open Access CC:DA/AALL/2005/1/Rev Special rules for certain legal publications in AACR2 Chapter 21(2005-07-21) Winzer, KathyThis review is intended to increase consistency, eliminate redundancy, and generalize rules whenever possible. We have identified one area in particular where major changes would make the rules easier to apply. We are proposing a major change for bilateral and multilateral treaties. Other areas of the rules could benefit from simplified wording …Item Open Access CC:DA/AALL/2010/1/Rev. Revision of RDA 16.2.2.9: Places in certain federations (Revised)(2011-05-24) Hostage, John; American Association of Law LibrariesAALL’s proposal CC:DA/AALL/2010/1 concerning places in certain federations was discussed at the Midwinter 2011 Meeting. At that time, John Attig suggested that the four Anglo-American countries be treated under an alternative to the general rule for adding a larger jurisdiction to a place name, and he put forward such a proposal in writing after the meeting. AALL has taken this proposal and modified it in several ways.Item Open Access CC:DA/AALL/2010/2 Revision of RDA 6.29.1.21: Reports of one court(2010-12-09) Hostage, John; American Association of Law LibrariesItem Open Access CC:DA/AALL/2013/1 Revision proposal for RDA instructions for treaties(2013-05-15) Hostage, John; American Association of Law LibrariesItem Open Access CC:DA/AALL/2014/1 Revision proposal for RDA instructions for armed forces (11.2.2.22.1)(2014-12-03) Bratton, Robert; American Association of Law LibrariesItem Open Access CC:DA/AALL/2014/2 Revision proposal for RDA instructions for laws, etc.(2014-12-16) Bratton, Robert; American Association of Law LibrariesItem Open Access CC:DA/AALL/2016/1 Revision proposal for RDA instructions for the names of international courts (RDA 11.2.2.21)(2015-12-07) Bratton, Robert; American Association of Law LibrariesItem Open Access CC:DA/AALL/2016/2 Revision proposal for RDA instructions for laws governing more than one jurisdiction (6.29.1.3)(2016-04-29) Bratton, Robert; American Association of Law LibrariesItem Open Access CC:DA/ACRL/2003/1 Report on the Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials Conference(2003-05-12) Maxwell, Robert; Attig, John; Association of College and Research LibrariesItem Open Access CC:DA/Agenbroad/1 Nonroman Headings and References Proposal(1999-01-09) Agenbroad, James E.The collections of Anglo-American public and research libraries have long included works in nonroman scripts for use of immigrants literate in such scripts and students of areas that use such scripts. In part 1 of AACR2 (1.0E) the descriptive elements are transcribed wherever practicable in the script in which it appears in the item itself. But in part 2 headings are always given in romanized form. The following proposed changes would allow vernacular headings as optional additional access points.Item Open Access CC:DA/Agenbroad/2 Nonroman Headings and References Proposal: An Alternative(2000-06-30) Agenbroad, James E.When CC:DA considers my proposal (CC:DA/Agenbroad/1) and if it decides that AACR2 should say something about making nonroman access points it might want to consider the following as an alternative to the text I proposed. This has the virtue of adding one new rule, 20.5, rather than adding six.Item Open Access CC:DA/AJL/2005/1 Special rules for religious materials in AACR2 Chapter 21 [rules 21.37-21.39](2005-07-16) Lerner, Heidi G.; Association of Jewish LibrariesA summary of recommendations from the Research & Special Libraries (R&S) Cataloging Committee of the Association of Jewish Libraries. These recommendations also reflect contributions from the Hebraica Team at the Library of Congress (LC) that were formulated in response to discussions held at LC regarding the simplification of AACR2 Ch. 21 special rules (rules 21.37–21.39) and related rules in Ch. 25. Each rule is provided (as currently worded) for reference and is followed by the recommendation.Item Open Access CC:DA/AJL/2005/2 5JSC/LC/2, Area 4 Example of Simplified Rule A1.4E. Date(2005-07-18) Lerner, Heidi G.; Association of Jewish LibrariesThe following proposal for rule RDA rule A1.4E, Date, reflects the basic principle of transcribing what appears, while keeping practices as pragmatic and simple as possible. Please note that the revised proposed rule will also require the addition to the Hebrew romanization table (and to the tables of other impacted languages) of a guideline on transcribing non-Western style dates in romanized contexts.Item Open Access CC:DA/ALA LC Romanziation Rep/2024/1 Report of the CC:DA Liaison to the ALA LC Romanization Table Review Board(2024-06-29) Mendenhall, TimothyUpdate on the Review Board's MARC discussion paper, https://www.loc.gov/marc/mac/2024/2024-dp11.htmlItem Open Access CC:DA/ALCTS/2011/1 ALCTS CCS RDA Planning and Training Task Force: [Report for Annual 2011](Committee on Cataloging: Description & Access, 2011-06-03) Harcourt, Kate; Woodley, MaryItem Open Access CC:DA/ALCTS/2012/1 ALCTS CCS RDA Planning and Training Task Force: Report for Midwinter 2012 for CaMMS and CC:DA(Committee on Cataloging: Description & Access, 2011-12-29) Harcourt, Kate; Woodley, MaryItem Open Access CC:DA/ALCTS/2012/2 ALCTS CCS RDA Planning and Training Task Force: Report for Annual 2012 for CaMMS and CC:DA(Committee on Cataloging: Description & Access, 2012-06-05) Harcourt, Kate; Woodley, MaryItem Open Access CC:DA/AMIA/2002/1 Report to MRC regarding changes to AACR2R 7.5(2002-07-24) Mann, Sarah Ziebell; Association of Moving Image Archivists Cataloging and Documentation CommitteeAllowing the use of conventional terminology in the physical description area of the MARC record means that catalogers can express an item’s physical description in current language that is more illustrative of the item in hand and better understood by public service staff and users. Another benefit of using of conventional terms in the physical description is that it unites aspects of a work’s physical description that currently are dispersed amongst several MARC fields. For some institutions, the specific format and technical specification is critical data that is most useful when displayed "up front" in the physical description area, rather than in a notes field (for example, 538). Notes often seem to be more for librarians (catalogers, in particular) than for users. If specific format and technical specifications information is important enough to include in the record, we recommend putting it in the 300 field rather than a note in order to provide a discrete, self-contained physical description statement.Item Open Access CC:DA/ARLIS/2005/1 ARLIS/NA response to 5JSC/Chair/5, Special rules in Chapter 21(2005-07-11) Starr, Daniel
