At the 2017 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Atlanta, the ALSC Board of Directors:

Approved, co-sponsorship of a memorial resolution commending Ruth Gordon

Approved, funding for the two current co-chairs of the Advocacy and Legislation committee to attend 2017 National Library Legislative Day.
 
Accepted, the preliminary proposed budget for FY-2018 and the Budget committee recommendations.
 
Adopted, recommendation #5, and, recommendations 1-4 in principle, in Board Document #29b from the Summer Reading and Learning Task Force.
 
Accepted, the report of the Valuation and Advocacy Research task force; thanked the TF for its work; planned to refer recommendations #1 and #4 to the Budget committee for further information on potential implementation; and approved implementation of recommendations #’s 2, 3, 5, and 6, from Board Document #29a, in principle, to support organizational excellence. 
 
Approved, the updated charge for the Advocacy and Legislation committee to include the promotion of ALSC advocacy initiatives and ensure a channel of communication between the committee and the ALA Committee on Legislation.
 
Approved, the request of the Advocacy and Legislation committee to function as a virtual committee and to reflect this in the composition statement of the committee.
