Patrice McDermott Joins the Washington Office!

The ALA Washington Office is pleased to announce that Patrice McDermott will be joining ALA beginning December 3rd as Assistant Director in the Office of Government Relations.


Ms. McDermott is currently the information policy analyst for OMB Watch, a nonprofit research, educational and advocacy organization whose goals include promoting public access to government information and encouraging broad public participation in government decision making to promote a more open and accountable government, She served as the Assistant Director of the Office for Intellectual Freedom of the ALA from 1986-88, taught information and politics at Clark Atlanta University from 1988-90, and from 1990-93, worked at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). At NARA, she worked on electronic public access to and exchange of information from the online information resources and services under development at NARA. Patrice is also an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown University in the Women's Studies Program.
