ALAWON: American Library Association Washington Office Newsline Volume 10, Number 65 September 12, 2001 Dear Colleagues, The ALA Washington Office extends its deepest sympathy to the families and friends of those who were lost in yesterday's attacks in New York City, here in Washington, D.C. and on the airplanes. With the rest of the Nation we mourn for the victims and hope for strength and sustenance for the survivors and their families, some of whom are known to our staff. The Washington Office opened on time today after closing on Tuesday morning. Our thoughts and priorities will be directed to how we can contribute toward recovery and renewal for the larger community as our Nation faces tremendous loss and challenges. Thank you also to our colleagues who have contacted us. Like the rest of the Nation, we are prepared to begin recovery and to balance our recent library issues with the larger agenda before us all.
