ALAWON: American Library Association Washington Office Newsline Volume 10, Number 41 May 17, 2001 In this issue: SCHOOL LIBRARY RESOURCES BILL GETS ATTACHED TO ESEA The Senate voted to add Senator Reed's School Library Resource Bill to the Senate version of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. We had a terrific win, but our work is not quite over. The following is the official tally of the yeas and nays. Please check the list and thank your Senators who voted for the Reed amendment. This is very important. We need to thank those who support us; they need to know you are aware of their vote; and it will be easier for them to support the appropriation when that vote comes up if they know how much positive response they got from this vote. The vote was 69 to 30. Only Senator Carnahan missed the vote, for a funeral. But she was an early co-sponsor, so she also deserves Missouri's thanks.
