ALAWON: American Library Association Washington Office Newsline Volume 10, Number 2 January 5, 2001 In this issue: Commerce Gets $45.5 Million for TOP Program Grants; Registration for Workshops Open The Commerce Department is expected to announce its Notice of Availability for the Fiscal Year 2001 Technology Opportunity Program Grants on Janurary 11, 2001. The expected deadline for proposals will be sometime in March. Congress appropriated $45.5 million for the TOP grants that fund the technology initiatives of libraries, community organizations, and community technology centers, and others. For this year's grant round, TOP will hold Technical Assistance Workshops in Washington, DC; Denver, CO; and St. Louis, MO. The purpose of the Technical Assistance Workshops is to give potential applicants an opportunity to find out more about TOP, its goals and objectives, and the particulars involved in applying for this year's grant funds.
