ALAWON: American Library Association Washington Office Newsline Volume 14, Number 111 November 15, 2005 In This Issue: Contact Congress—Support Funding For Libraries Please call your Members of Congress today to ask them to support the House request of $212,650,000 million for the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). The Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations conferees are meeting this week and possibly making a decision as early as tomorrow (November 16th) on the 2006 funding level for LSTA. Reps. Simmons (R-CT) and Grijalva (D-AZ) have joined to circulate a letter to Chairman Regula (R-OH) and Ranking Member Obey (D-WI) to support the House number of $212,650,000 million for LSTA. Please call your Member of Congress, especially if he or she is on the list below, to ask that he or she support the House request. If your Member of Congress is not a conferee but is supportive of libraries please ask her or him to call the chairman of the committee to urge them to support the House request. The window of opportunity for this issue is short and phone calls will be most effective at this point.
