ALAWON: American Library Association Washington Office Newsline Volume 9, Number 68 August 4, 2000 In this issue: UCITA VIDEOCONFERENCE DATE SET On December 13, 2000 ALA, along with Association of Research Libraries, Association of Law Libraries, Special Libraries Association and the Medical Libraries Association, will be sponsoring a two-hour videoconference on the Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act (UCITA). The videoconference will provide a "primer" on UCITA, strategies for advocacy in your state, and an opportunity for questions and answers by participants. We intend to have program and registration details on a web site available in September, but in the meantime wanted to alert you to the date so that you may mark your calendars. Advance materials for the participants will become available on that site as well. If you have any questions, concerns or would like further information on UCITA, contact Miriam Nisbet at mnisbet@alawash.org. Background information on UCITA is available at the ALA Washington Office website at http://www.ala.org/washoff/ucita.html. ****** ALAWON (ISSN 1069-7799) is a free, irregular publication of the American Library Association Washington Office.
