In This Issue: GPO-Support GPO's FY 2007 Appropriation's Request 

ACTION NEEDED: URGE YOUR MEMBER OF CONGRESS TO SUPPORT THE GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE'S FY 2007 APPROPRIATIONS REQUEST 
 
In March, ALA, along with the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), the Special Libraries Association (SLA), and the Medical Library Association (MLA), sent a letter to the Hill in support of the Public Printer's FY 2007 budget request of $151.5 million for the GPO.  
 
The GPO request of $151.5 includes $100,285,000 for the Congressional Printing and Binding Appropriation, $43,000,000 for the Salaries and Expenses Appropriation of the Superintendent of Documents, and $8.2 million for GPO's revolving fund.
 
The Superintendents of Documents' request includes necessary funds for the cataloging, indexing, and distribution of Federal publications in print and electronic formats to depository libraries and other recipients designated by law.
 
ALA urges members to contact their Members of Congress and ask them to support the President's request for the GPO. Use ALA's Washington Office Legislative Action Center at: http://www.onlineadvocacy.net/ to identify and fax your Members of Congress in both the House and the Senate.
