National Library Legislative Day (May 1 and 2, 2006) Come and Participate in National Library Legislative Day 2006! Each year hundreds of library supports come to Washington to talk with their members of Congress about their libraries' needs. Library Legislative Day is a two-day event featuring advocacy and issue training sessions, Capitol Hill insiders as speakers, and a visit to congressional member offices on Capitol Hill. The event, entitled "Introduction to National Library Legislative Day: Why Your Participation is Important; What to Do and How to Do It," is designed to provide tips on how to make an impact during hill visits and to help with the organization of presentations to your legislators. The pre-conference will be held in the Washington Office First Floor conference room from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Please note the new location of the Washington Office is: 1615 New Hampshire Ave., N.W., First Floor, Washington D.C. 20009. Can't Come to Washington? Organize a Virtual Federal Legislative Day! (May 1st and 2nd) Can't come to Washington? You can still participate in Legislative Day by organizing library supporters in your state to phone, fax, and email Congress on May 1st- 2nd. "Virtual Federal Legislative Day" communicates the needs of libraries to Congress and increases the impact of National Library Legislative Day in Washington D.C.
