Goals, Objectives, Projects completed (including, but not
limited to, any procedures, tip sheets, checklists, etc. created during the
reporting year):
The Student
Reception Committee's charge is to coordinate and hold a reception for library
school students, where they are able to meet representatives from ALA's
divisions and roundtables. In addition
to the networking aspect, the Student Chapter of the Year Award is
presented.
The committee
publicized the event through Footnotes,
the library school list-servs, newlib, nexgenlib, and the NMRT discussion
lists. We invited representatives from
every part of ALA to attend, and have over 30 representatives confirmed to be
at the event. The committee completed
our catering menu as well. Also, the
committee worked with SASCO and the Student Chapter of the Year Award committee
to coordinate our tasks.
Action Items/Issues To Be Resolved – What plans/projects
remain which will be carried over or postponed until next year? Have there been
any substantial changes in plans requiring a reconsideration or cancellation of
projects? Information regarding such will be helpful for future chairs and
planners.
The event will be
held at 6:30 on Sunday June 25, 2006 during ALA. During that time feedback forms will be distributed at the event
for future planning purposes. These
will be compiled by the Student Reception Chair for the future Student
Reception Committee to aide in their planning.
Once those are compiled, all 2005/2006 Student Reception Committee work
will be completed.
