opportunities for involvement and/or training for professional association

interests/goals/expectations on getting active in NMRT, and match them with

to offer a variety of leadership training and opportunities to help those
approaching the end of their NMRT eligibility to make the transition to future
positions in the Association and the profession; and

foster innovation and focus on projects that will help promote NMRT to other
ALA units such as electronic archives policy, new model of organization
newsletter, explore issues related to members-only website and services;
*
establish Liaisons Support and Coordination ad hoc committee to help rebuild
NMRT liaison program and identify ways for members to interact with other ALA
units;
*
create strong working relationships through
working
with other ALA unit leaders, especially in promoting NMRT accomplishment of
interest to other ALA committees and groups;
*
establish Alumni Relations ad hoc committee to create ties between current
members and past JMRT/NMRT active members who are now seasoned committee
members or leaders in ALA
*
help board members strength their leadership skills including board level
planning and governance
(d)
to develop and implement ongoing programs for library school students that
encourage professional involvement and networking.

sustain outreach coverage to library students and student organizations,
hopefully beyond accredited programs and possibly match outreach coverage in
1999-2000;
*
expand networking opportunities and services at student reception;
*
introduce travel grants for 2003 winner of Student Chapter of the Year award;
*
be an advocate for student members, participate and collaborate with ALA units
on student membership retention and recruitment
*
ensure different committees that reach out students directly and indirectly
work together as a single team with common goals
3. How you plan to create a positive committee experience,
including the frequency and type of support you plan to provide to chairs and
committee
members:
*
provide concrete support and guidance to committee chairs through online
discussions, regular feedback and encouragement, tips and hints on running
committees, project management, and delegation
*
help committee chair develop the big pictures perspective, guide chairs to
write proposals, reports, participate in board discussion that mirrors the
governance structure/procedures of the larger organization
4. Future directions you see your office or NMRT need to take this year or the following year, including strategies on how to address projects that affect committees outside of your supervision:
* identify NMRT strengths, unique focus that are responsive to members' interests through supporting executive board members in the creation of 3-year plan on different aspects of the organization such as finance, records management, member services, membership recruitment, membership retention, communication, networking, leadership development and NMRT advocacy
*
diversify NMRT's programs, services, and involvement opportunities so that they
are accessible to all members
*
coordinate varies projects that ultimately will build up human and financial
resources for future growth
