NMRT Board Member Progress Report

1. Office Name: Vice President/President-Elect

2. Office Term (Date: Ex. 2002-2003): 2002-2003

3. What kind of interaction have you had with your committees thus far this year? What support have you been able to provide them?

I have worked with SSRA to brainstorm ways to make committee experiences more rewarding and effective for members; I hope to further develop and implement some of the ideas during my presidency next year.

I met with SSRA members and the Strategic Planning TF members at MW to hear their ideas for another NMRT Leadership Retreat, based on the success of the previous such retreat a number of years ago. I have been in contact with consultant Marianne Hartzell about developing another retreat, and am currently exploring funding options for this undertaking.

I have also begun the committee appointment process for MW to MW committees, such as Archives and Handbook. To aid in this project, I have sent out notices to NMRT-L and Footnotes encouraging NMRT members to volunteer for committees.

I met with members of the Exhibitors Round Table at MW to discuss the state of the Friendly Booth Award. Notes on that meeting have been shared with the Board previously.

4. What would you still like to accomplish in your office before the end of your term?

I hope to work with SSRA to compile a master timetable of NMRT events throughout the year. This handy reference will be shared with Board members to help provide a clearer picture of NMRT activities and timing of those activities.

I have been in contact with ECRC, via treasurer Bill Jenkins, to determine potential vendors to contact about supporting the NMRT Student Reception. I will be sending the list they compiled to the ALA Development Office to confirm the suitability of the vendors before contacting them.

In addition, the committee appointment process will be continued, with focus on getting the MW to MW committees filled out in the next month or so. I plan to send out more reminders via NMRT-L and NMRTSTUDL to increase the numbers of volunteers.
