Addendum to Committee Planning Report, 2002-2003: Timeline

Committee Name: SASCO

Specific Timeline for Year's Activities

August/September:   

  • Committee appointments finalized and planning report prepared.
  • Divide unaccredited and accredited library schools equally between all committee members, partially based on preference and location of committee member.
  • Initial contact with schools to collect and confirm contact information takes place.

           

October:        

  • Continuation of the initial contact of schools by committee members.
  • List of contact information is compiled on an ongoing basis by Asst. Chair.

November:    

  • Footnotes copy due.
  • Seek volunteers for web, newsletter, and Student Chapter of the Year Award (SCOTYA) committee from within SASCO.
  • SASCO Newsletter begins distribution. The newsletter is usually compiled and distributed for monthly release, but because of delays, the newsletter will be distributed once every two weeks until four newsletters have been distributed for the fall semester.
  • Beginning of web page updating.
  • Contact ALA Membership Office to determine when ALA Student Chapter Forum will be meeting at ALA Midwinter. Arrange to have a brief presentation made by the Outreach Committee and provide brochures about NMRT.

December:     

  • Along with the SASCO chair, the SASCO web committee will begin to update the ALA web pages assigned to SASCO.
  • The final of the fall SASCO newsletters will be distributed by the third week of the month.

January/February:    

  • Midwinter meeting. Submit Progress Report.
  • Begin compilation and distribution of SASCO newsletter once a month for the spring semester.
  • Begin advertisement of SCOTYA. Select jury members for SCOTYA.
  • Ongoing update of SASCO web pages.

March:           

  • Footnotes copy due.

April:              

  • Final SASCO newsletter to be sent out to library schools.

May:              

  • Announcement of the winning chapter of the SCOTYA.
  • Contact ALA Membership Office to determine when ALA Student Chapter Forum will be meeting at ALA Annual. Arrange to have a brief presentation made by the Outreach Committee and provide brochures about NMRT.

June:              

  • Prepare Final Report.
  • Present SCOTYA to representatives from the winning school's chapter at ALA Annual in Toronto.
  • Collect and organize committee files to be transferred to the succeeding chair of the committee.
