1. Office Name: Member Services Director
2. Office Term (Date: Ex. 2002-2003): 2002-2003
3. What kind of interaction have you had with your committees thus far this year? What support have you been able to provide them?
I have
attempted to quickly answer any questions that the committee chairs have had. I
try to stay in contact via email and accomplish any tasks that they need me to
do. I met with the Mentoring committee, the Web committee chair, and a
Publicity committee member at the ALA Midwinter conference.
The Web
committee chair and the Publicity committee chair resigned in March so I am
currently helping the new chairs outline what needs to be done the rest of the
year.
Footnotes,
Mentoring, Resume Review, and Membership are on track for accomplishing the
goals for the year. Each committee is doing an excellent job and has needed
very little guidance.
4. What would you still like to accomplish in your office before the end of your term?
In previous
years NMRT was able to place an ad in American Libraries for free. This is no
longer the case and a ½ page ad would cost $500. I need to document the reasons
why NMRT will no longer place an ad in American Libraries.
The
transition to ALA's content management software has not been smooth. The
majority of the webpages have not been transferred over. I need to make sure
that next year's web committee is aware of any problems and to ensure that the
process of transferring pages continues.
