On September 24 a group of Senators sent a letter to Senators Specter (R-PA) and Harkin (D-IA), of the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education, asking them to show their support of libraries by voting for the higher House funding levels in the Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Conference. This appropriations bill includes the Improving Literacy Through School Libraries program, the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA), and the Museum Services Act.
