In This Issue: INFO/ERAT: SLD Publishes E-Rate Guidelines

USAC's Schools and Libraries Division today published guidance on the FCC's order suspending enforcement of FCC rules implementing section 254(h)(6) of the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), relating to filtering requirements for computers with Internet access in libraries.  This information is vital to libraries that have applied for or will apply for E-rate discounts.  It is available at http://www.sl.universalservice.org/reference/CIPAGuidance.asp.  The information is thorough and presents four categories of affected applicants.  Applicants are advised to read the introductory material and general guidance, and then identify the information that applies to individual applicant situations in one of the four categories.  

The ALA E-rate Task Force will continue to monitor this process and any information provided by SLD and USAC.
